Hi
Just some questions whats steps I need to do to minimise UVG problems before I upgrade to latest dnn4.8.2 :
1. What do I have to copy over in the webconfig ?
2. Do I need to upgrade latest UVG 2.2.2 before or after Dnn upgrade?

you can upgrade your DNN first.
then just run the configuration wizard again is ok. |

I tried to upgrade from dnn 4.5.5 to 4.8.2 After the upgrade I ran the config wizard again. But I'm still having problems.
Error: UVG_CategoryList is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. Same Error on Video Lists
Same Error on Popular Videos.
I never got to the player tab to see what was working.
It says UVG 2.2.2, licensed copy, but I patched it recently(within the last 30 days) when you sent out the emails about youtube videos not working anymore.
Please Advise. |

obviously this is a database configuration issue, I belive your entire website is not working propelry.
please check your database configuration or connection strings to see what the problem is. |

The problem was an incorrect setting in this section of my web.config
The net effect, most of the test upgrade site worked, with a few exceptions.

There have been known issues in the DNN community when upgrading different versions of DNN.
Best practice: 4.x to 4.6.2 to 4.8.2

I had upgraded from 4.5.5 to 4.8.2. I was able to get UVG 2.2.2 working fine. Then I tried to upgrade UVG 2.2.2 to UVG 2.3.0 NO LUCK, with every attempt to install UVG2.3.0 I got "thread aborted exceptions"
At any rate, I backed and punted, went back to 4.5.5 installed UVG 2.3.0, made sure stuff worked, then did my upgrade to 4.62 then 4.8.2
Thanks for the tip, perhaps others are getting simular results on bad DNN upgrades. At least there is a path. |

I'm not exactly about this problem, but "thread is being aborted" seems to be something with your IIS settings, IIS recycles while you upload the PA.
