From your manual...
"
When watch a video that both flv version and H26will see a triangle button and tool tip in the control bar, you can click it to switch to high quality version, the triangle get blurred when you are watching the H264 version."

I might be confused by the FLV + H264 setting, does that mean that a particular video as encoded uploaded in mp4 will get a Flv version saved with it?

Meaning, if I change my Encoding Strategy to H264 can I still upload both FLVs and MP4s, and MP4s will no longer get a Flash file created?
I have some videos already encoded in FLV and some of these FLV files are actually really good quality as generated by the native Flash video encoder, I want ability to upload both kinds.

Bottom line I want to avoid that arrow switch thing, continue to upload both FLV videos and MP4s with H264 and when MP4s load in player they only load the MP4 high quality, and when uploading a FLV pre encoded file to not necessarily convert it to MP4.

I want to do this for a while so I can be the judge and use the already Flash encoded files and while I'm converted newer videos to MP4 I can compare the quality

the encoding stratege is used to tell UVG how to encode uplaoded videos.

when set to "flv", UVG encode it to flv format
when set to "h264" UVG encode it to mp4 format.
when set to both, UVG encode it to both format, then you will have a button to switch the video quality when play it.

however, there is a exception, when you upload a video in flv format, UVG doesn't encode it at all, it just save your video to server disk, UVG doesn't generate a new mp4 video for it.

when the stratege is set to both, and you upload videos in any other formats(including mp4), you will have 2 versions of your video at different quality.

is that clear?

I think this may explain a possible problem that I have.

I just used the UVG convertor to convert a file and upload it - first time I have tried this approach.

I have the portal to encode both options.

The file uploaded ok and for the first time I noticed the arrow for high/low quality version. If I click it to go to the high quality version I just get a blank player.

Am I doing something wrong or is the expected action?

Thanks

I belive your IIS doesn't support mp4 mime type, please add it.
