Hi everyone,

How do you track who may be embedding your video code from UVG? I look through my stats on hosting but see no clear way of deciphering this.

Would there be a way to see this from the DNN logs?

Thanks for any recommendations,

Robert

I think it's impossible, UVG have completely no idea if the video is embed or run on your own site.

Yes I agree Pengtsen, embed code and external urls would be impossible to track, however, what about the user submitted videos that are actually hosted on the site (real video file on local hosting account?)

I've been looking through Smarter Stats for indication of how traffic is hitting local hosted videos and see no clear way of deciphering where the hits are coming from.

Maybe no one is embedding my player and is why I don't see any "hot linking" stats. More so, I don't think the Smarter Stats is telling me who is hot linking a local hosted video.

This would be real interesting to see and track because... how am I to know? Who is embedding my video player and where potential visitors are coming from?

It's a difficult task. The post you have pinned regarding tracking user comments and the people that created it is heading in the right direction. If we can track comments... the next step would be to track where embed code is coming from... How? I don't know... Maybe DNN core has some ability to track and report this to us that we are unaware of? Or maybe it's a WebHosting stats feature?

Maybe some of the other members of Biz Modules forum would have some ideas...

Thanks for your imput

By the way... I enabled Site Log settings in Host and Admin settings for 30 days to see if I find anything... I'll keep you posted with what I find.

if you have a picture on your site, peoples can use it on their site just by a "img src=..." tag, you don't know that completely, except you install some mintor software on your site to check every http request.

the same to UVG, you are unable to know peopels are using an piece of html code to use your website's resource. except developing a minitor component.

thank you.
