I've just got a couple of questions regarding features i need for a website:
- using FTP to upload, can you upload to a specific folder, which then becomes an album? - when using FTP to upload, can you watermark the pictures? - when using FTP to upload, can you resize the pictures? Do they all need to be portrait or landscape? - can you specify S3 storage for the upload? For example, if the upload was to an S3 location, could UMG effectively read those locations? - Is it possible to show an album thumbnail to all users, but only allow registered users to view the album? - Is it possible to generate a random thumbnail of an album, or to show a set of rotating random thumbnails from an album. Each album would have > 100 shots in it.
The site in question will have to do more specific filtering of albums - in that one set of users gets shown one set of albums (based on their chosen geographic location), and another set will get shown a different location. I'm assuming this type of detail isn't possible with the standard module, but is it possible to tell the module on a particular page which albums to show? This can be done in any fashion, but I would need to have a set of albums:
1 : location a , date y 2 : location a, date z 3 : location b,date y 4 : location b, date z
If the users chooses 'location a' as their current location, can I show albums 1 and 2, but if another users shows location b, can I show albums 3 and 4. Ideally, all they would see is the thumbnail of the album, and they would have to register to see all of the album.
Thanks in advance -Bruce

- using FTP to upload, can you upload to a specific folder, which then becomes an album? actually you should create the album first, then upload your photos to the "large" folder of this album and sync it. - when using FTP to upload, can you watermark the pictures? yes, the watermark can be applied when synchronize an album - when using FTP to upload, can you resize the pictures? Do they all need to be portrait or landscape? yes, UMG do resize it when synchronize, some photos can be portrait and some can be landscape, this is not a problem, UMG just limit its max width & height, UMG resize it according to its original aspect ratio. - can you specify S3 storage for the upload? For example, if the upload was to an S3 location, could UMG effectively read those locations? no, UMG doesn't support amazon s3. - Is it possible to show an album thumbnail to all users, but only allow registered users to view the album? maybe you can enable view permission in your album, so users can't see the large version if they don't have necessary permission, but use the TopPhotos module to display the thumbnails, TopPhotos doesn't check view permission. - Is it possible to generate a random thumbnail of an album, or to show a set of rotating random thumbnails from an album. Each album would have > 100 shots in it. yes, TopPhotos can do this job. I belive some customization work is necessary for your business requirements. thank you. |
