Can I customize the gallery to display only certain albums and not all albums in the gallery?

Basically I am trying to filter the allbums in the gallery through some user selection criteria.

An user will select a criteria, then hit a "Go" button and the gallery will display the albums that fit into that criteria only.

I think some kind of customization is necessary to assomplish this.

when you click go you can pass some variables in querystring and force UMG to use these variables when list albums.

What is the best way for me to accomplish this? I have the standard license without the source code. Do I need to buy the enterprise license and then modify the source code myslef? Please advice.
