Is it possible to automatically provide registered users with their own Photo Gallery? For example, if I have a registered user whose username is Amy21, can an Album be generated called "Amy21's Photo Gallery" automatically and then that user only has access to the album? I could settle for the administrator initially creating the album, but how does an administrator restrict access to a particular album? |

Thanks for your suggestion.
I'm sorry I can't support the first feature, I think you have to create it manually.
If you want to restrict albums from being accessed by administrators. please don't use the default role in DNN - "Administrators" ,because users in this role is the owner of the portal. so everything is accessable to this role. you can create a new role for album creators. and disable the user gallery from being viewed by this role after the gallery is created.
Thanks. |

I think what the original poster was trying to get at is the same thing I want to do.
It's ok if the site admin has to create the album. It's also ok if the site admin has access to the albums. What I want to do is to be able to create an album that is viewable by everybody, but only a specific user (and the admin of course) should be able to upload files into that album. This way, users can have their own albums that nobody else can upload to.
I think the only way to do this right now is to have each user in their own Role and you then you assign that users role to the "Composing Roles" in the album definition. For a site with hundreds or thousands of users, this is obviously not a good solution.
Maybe a better solution would be that each album could have an individual "owner" who would be assigned from the DNN Registered Users list. This owner would be assigned by the site Admin when the album is first created. This way, only that albums owner and site admin would be able to upload photos to the album.
With that addition, this photo module would be the absolute best available for DNN in my opinion. |

Thanks for your suggestion! I really appreciate it !
I adopted your suggestion. administrations can set a OWNER to each album, then this user will get Composing and Moderation permission in this album.
Thanks! |

I really need this feature too. I assume it's not in 2.6? Looking forward to seeing this feature on the next update.

Yes, in the next version which is under development. you can switch this module in two modes : Photo provider & Gallery service provider. the 1st mode is used to show your photos to your visitors, and the 2nd mode is used to provide personal album service to your users. they can create their own albums and share with others. like blog.
It seems the OWNER feature is no longer necessary. however, I will give full control permission to the creator of an album.
This version will be released around the end of this month.
Thanks. |

Is the OWNER functionality offered in teh 2.07 release? Is any of this functionality added in the 2.07 release or is there a newer version due soon?
Thanks Steve |

Also for security purposes. If a user gallery is defined are other users able to edit it? Should only be locked to the owner. |

There isn't any new features in UPG 2.0.7 , just fixed some bugs.
Yes, the owner can edit the user gallery only.
Thanks. |

Thanks Xue! Was getting ready to purchase and needed to clarify.
So if a user creates an album and the OWNER is set then only that user can edit that album?
Sorry about the double post. |

If the gallery is running under "Gallery Service Provider" mode , the administrator can set which roles are permitted to create their album. then these users will get full control to their personal gallery. create their own albums and photos.
Then there is a page which displays the URL of his/her personal gallery. the UserId is encrypted and passed with the url. so he/she will be able the send the url of their personal gallery to someone else and share with them.
Thanks. |
