I am wanting to create a personal gallery where each user can have their own and display their images. I have this setup on one page. Now i am wanting a public gallery that will show all galleries from these different personal galleries. I tried using the profile integration on this second one, but no luck. In order to accomplish this am i going to need a profile module or can i do this without one?

yes, at least you need a user list, when click on this list the userid is passsed to UMG so UMG is able to show one's pictures.
