I'm not exactly sure about your sugguestion, but I'm considering to add the feature below to UMG 5, do you think it can solve your problem? Add a "fire key" field to album-level, so you can specify a "fire key" for each album, fire key is a "key=value" pair, if this string is passed in querystring, then this album(and only this album) will be launched. thanks. |

Hi there, thanks for that. I think that will do it nicely :). OK the $1 million (wishful thinking) questions, how's your work on UVG going so you can get around to UMG 5? :)

Hey there,
Has the Fire Key option been added and if so, where do I find it?
Also I have the Source version. Do you have a manual somewhere? I need to create a custom button or do something where I can grab the photo's location using its Photo ID and/or Album ID (as a link, eg: same functionality as Email to a Friend) and then paste this as a link in a seperate module.
Cheers,
Dan

well, the fire key feautre is not included due to some reason. there isn't a manualy for the source version, but the code should be very easy to understand. you want to build a url which can be used to show specific photo when startup? if so, you should know the TabId of this photo, and the url should be: /Tabid/the tabid/PhotoId/the photo id/AlbumId/the belonged albumid/default.aspx thanks. |

Hi there,
Sure I know how to do it, but to make it easy for the client, this is not appropriate for me to expect them to find the Photo ID and/or Album ID and then copy that URL and then go into a different section eg: like a classifieds type mod for example and then paste it into there.
I need a simple way to use what you have done in the 'Email a Friend' part of your mod that grabs the URL. I need to just grab it and put it in memory and have the client then paste that into a URL field as part of my application. That should suffice.
Cheers,
Dan

Oky doky :)
General web user:
UMG will be in one pane.
My application will be in another pane. It's a classifieds style directory. Lots of info about particular items, say a house. All the homes are listed down the page. Someone selects a house and then views a stack of info about each home. If they want to view all the photos for this house, they then just choose a link or view button which opens up the relevant home album in UMG.
Webmaster (my Client):
Needs a simple way to be able to grab the Photo URL or ALBUM url location for photos or albums and place in a field in my application. I'm thinking that once the webmaster adds their photos that there is an easy way for them to know the album ID of an album (how about we display this next to Album name) and then the rest is probaly easy for us to place query string into button and grab the album ID (they enter into our field) and that should do it fine.
Sorry I'm not a programmer and would normally explain this with pictures! :) Hope I was able to explain it. My programmer is away for the moment..
Cheers,
Dan

you have the source, right? I think you can you can customize the Edit Photo screen(ucEditPhoto.ascx), you can expose the url of this photo in this screen so your users are able to copy it easily. thanks. |
