I am wondering, and this may be just very wishful thinking on my part and a LOT or hard work on your part but I could see some benifits of having the UMG gallery and the Personal Gallery function off user ID...
For example the Personal Gallery right now creates a new page and a role within a rolegroup for eaach user who creates a gallery and they get a new instance of the Gallery plus some other modules that you assign to the page right?
Well. What if, and I know that this would probably make it impossible for users to take advantange of the incredible customizations of the gallery that you offer but
What if the Gallery was placed on one single page and the users pictures and relevent data like the EFIX and the description and the price etc were injected to the player when a specific link to that user is clicked. I would function more like how the UVG functions and I think would give UMG a little more customization as far as working with other module. You could then include things like the Smart Thinker User Profile or any other modules that function off of passed in user ID.
I realize it would take away alot from the personalization that UMG offers now in managing all your pictures and what not right on your own instance of the module but it would offer people the chance to create more powerful sales sites. You could release it as a separate module.
maybe throw in a acount manager module that would allow you to access your uploaded files and edit them in a way like the UMG offers now. And as a final idea could you not also have settings be passed to the .swf for a custom color scheme for each user?
I know this would be a huge scale thing to do and you probably won't do it, but I wanted to get the idea out there, who knows, maybe it might become a reality one day...I know I can't wait...wish I knew how to program as well as I can conceptualize :)

mark, briefly, do you want UMG to show pictures upload be specific user?
if the userid parameter is passed then UMG show this user's pictures. |

Yes but a user id could be passed in from another users link, say have a dynamic list of users who have content, then when a user is clicked on, their UserID is passed into the module and that users content is displayed. This could also work to display your own content with a module setting to retrieve the logged on users ID.
Do you understand what I mean?

Just a follow up. Really looking forward to this release. I see so much increase in functionality this way. Just wondering if we will be seeing it soon.
No Pressure, just trying to guage it for my own site release using UMG.
Which brings me to another question, if say you have an album from a lower version, will that data still be displayable in the new release? I don't see why it shouldn't, just want to be clear on it

I am also looking for a gallery module with this enhancement.
The idea is pretty simple but very powerful. On an user profile page (working off userid in the url) you can place the module and it will show only the pictures uploaded by the user. Only that particular user will see and edit link that will allow him to edit/upload more photos (the real module may have to sit on another tab where all edits are performed). It is an age old concept you can see on myspace.com, facebook.com etc.
Let me know if you do sponsored enhancements. I would be interested.

I'll allow you to set a key(in most case it is UserId) and UMG try to read the value of key from querystring.

Hi All,
I have something similar to this and it might be the same, just a different purpose.
Have a project that has an advertisers details appear on a page depending on the search criteria used.
Dearly love UMG to appear on a dynamic page that loads images for that advertiser selected (this could be anything else; but for my purposes it's a page with an advertisers company details and a gallery.
The Gallery would grab the ID of the advertiser and then display the photos of that advertiser only.
At present all the content for the site is handled by one administrator to keep the look and feel consistent, so not the need to display photos based on user ID or User role - but I can see already some aspects of upcoming projects I can use this.
It's mentioned above that images could be displayed based on a persons' User role ...

UMG as we know and love is the BEST image delivery system I care to know about. Pengtsen, this is just one awesome product! Be nice to know if this is possible and an simple way to upload images specific to a particular listing.
It shouldn't be too hard to show the database advertiser ID once the record has been created in our application. Use this ID in the new UMG option, to assign images uploaded to this ID???
