I would really like to be able to adjust the Alpha (transparency) for the background of the Caption, via a field in the Gallery Settings. 

I might even be willing to pay for the coding of this enhancement.  Email me if you are interested.

I'd like to second this suggestion. It's the one detail that kept me from buying the module today. Any chance of this happening?

I wanted this in the past also, but realized that if I make the gallery taller, the caption bar will not overlap with the picture, maybe that can solve your request?

Emilio, thanks for your suggestion, yes, I think this is a good idea if your worry about the caption field will cover your picture.

However, I just recorded this request and will review the possibility to add it in next release.
