What's the purpose of this module other than show the uploaded pic on the calender? Can the user add their personal appointments etc? If yes, can the user see only his appointments? Can it be integrated with the userprofile?

this module is designed to show pictures added in current month, you can see how many pictures are added in each day, and click a day(or week) to see these pictures.

To put it simply this module aggregate photos added in a specific date and displays them on a calendar, that is its sole purpose. If properly set up you can click the day and it will send you to a specified UMG module instance showing all the images associated with that day. There is no scheduling or event handling to this. just what it says, a photo calendar. Personally I think it is a very versitile module for only having one fuction. aggregation for each day, its great!

I know its been said before, but it would be awesome if it could have the OPTION to read the exif data for date taken and put them on the in their natrual progression through time.

it does do that, its in the module settings. order by date added, or order by date taken

yes, the ability to sort photos by taken date is already supported.
