What about giving an option in the search module to allow "search" on specific gallery module instances.

For instance: I have one primary instance of UMG that is the central repository for all images, I then have a "personal gallery" instance for my users to view their uploaded photos. But, when using "search" it will pull and display results twice on the same photo from both instances of the gallery module.

you said you use "personal gallery" mode in 2nd gallery instance, but I guess you were talking about "Profile integration" mode, right? because personal gallery mode doesn't allow you to show pictures in another module.

however, I don't think you will get duplicated search result even your 2nd gallery run in profile integration mode. because there isn't a real photo in profile integration mode, UMG just display pictures in the source galleyr.

thanks.

I looked back and realized what I'd done. My second instance is actually a duplicate of the original gallery with module setting set to "registered users".

I did this because I have a "user page" set with different modules for control by the enduser rather than jumping around all over my site to do things. I didn't use "personal gallery" mode because I don't want users to have personal galleries or the possibility to add new galleries.

Now, on the user's "profile" page, I have an instance of "profile integration" mode passing the userid with no controls and mapped to my main gallery.

My setup works quite nicely, of course except for the "search". It gets duplicate search results because I am using the same "gallery" module in two places. I don't see any way to get around this one.

One thing I have tried is to create an instance of "personal gallery" and map the albums from my main gallery to the "personal gallery" instance. Seems to work ok. But again the issue of a user being able to create more albums.

Can we have an option added to enable/disable "album creation" in the "personal gallery" instance? Or is there another solution I am missing on the search problem I'm having?

if album creation is disabled in "personal gallery" mode, and how can your users create their albums and photos?

so you have a main gallery, but you added this gallery to another page with DNN "add from existing page" functionality?

I kinda dropped the ball on this one...

Yes, I did the "add from existing page" and with the two instances of the same UMG gallery I'm getting duplicate search results.
