Hello!

I just bought the Upgrade from UPG 2.5.7 to UMG 3.0

Installation was no Problem, but now I have the folling Problems. If I click on License, nothing happens, until after a long timeout, I get a normal Errorpage of IE. The Same happens when I try to access the Module Settings.

After a while, IIS stops the AppPool, that is related to my Website and in the Eventlog I find Framework 2.0 Errors and IIS Workerprocess errors.

Is this a known bug?

This happens on my existing Albums.

Please help!!!!!!

I installed this module on some DNN 4.x versions and it seems to be ok, I think it must be a problem of your DNN installation.

If you still get this problem, please try to find some error message about it, or you can tell me your host password to help you check it.

Thanks.

Hi, I have exact the same problem as Peter described. I haven't found anything in the log-view. Have also made a clean install on dnn 4.3.4 and 4.3.2 - same problem. After a while IIS stops the application pool. Only when you access the 2 pages (Module setting and licencing). Any ideas ? THX for your help ! Robert

Hi!

Nice to see, that I am not the only one. I did a lot of research, and I would like to know from you: Whats your OS? Do you have Windows Server x64 like me? Running IIS in 64-Bit?

Hi.

What I found out the last days:

Windows Server 2003 x64 running IIS in 64-Bit Mode, there is a bug in DNN 4.3.4 I found this in the Forums at DNN.

The Problem is: If you try to Log-In to the Portal as host or as Site-Admin, and you misstype the password, IIS runs into big Problems. You get DOT.NET Runtime errors and the W3C Service restarts several times because of errors.

It seems that this only happens in x64 Enviroment. Dont know for sure, but what I found in the DNN forums, it was always x64.

Thats why I told you, you dont have to look any longer, because I thought that the Problem with the UMG is similar.

All other Aktions in 4.3.4 work as expected. My Sites are running perfekt, I can do everything without errors, or Problems, the only things is the Login with a wrong password, and the UMG.

I hope this helps. My english is not so good......

Hi Peter, your english is perfect ! You are absolute right - I'am using Windows Server 2003 Std. 64-bit. But I havn't misstyped my password for login as an host / admin ! Strange - is there a workaround ? In my case I can't use UMG 3.0 - Ultra Photo Gallary 2.5 worked perfect - so my question to BizModules: what's the difference in the module-settings and licences-page why there are some troubles? THX ! Robert

Thansk for your Reply. The Login Problem is another Problem I found. It is not directly related with the UMG 3.0.

I dont know a workaround, but I think with this Info, perhaps Bizmodules finds a way.

For my personal Interest, would you be so kind to try to login as host, with a wrong password? I would really interrest me personaly to know, it this problem always accour on x64 maschines.

Let us wait and see what happens.

As additional Info for Bizmodules: All other Modules I am using work with out any Problems! I have the Login Bug, the UMG Bug, and thats it. All other funktions work as expected.

Hi Peter ! I have tried out what you have suggested - extactly the same situation: if you log in as "host" with a wrong password, IIS shut's down the application pool after about 10-15 sec. - after that, the dnn-portal isn't reachable. That means also, that there is a serious problem: if a user (hacker) will try to log in as "admin" or "host" and tries a password - the portal isn't reachable anymore - wow ! @Bizmodules: I have the same situation as Peter, everything is working very good and very stable - except: Login Bug, and the UMG Bug. THX for your help ! Robert

Yes, it is quite a heavy bug. All x64 Systems seam to be affected.

Perhaps in UMG there is also a request, that does not work with this Bug in DNN 4.3.4

Would be nice if Bizmodules could fix this independently.

Hi Peter, I have done a research and there is a positiv answer :-) - it will be fixed in 4.3.5 ! - look at this describtion: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=3849 @Bizmodules: is there a possibilty to get this fixed in your module UMG 3.0 ? Many THX ! Robert

Peter and Robert, Thanks for your discussion here, it is quite useful for other peoples with same problem.

I'll research on this problem and try to release a fix for DNN core, like what I did for DNN 4.3.2/3.3.2, however, I don't have a x64 system so I don't don't know whether I can fix it easily.

Thanks.

I upgraded from the latest 2.x version to 3.0. I went to the license area and entered my new serial number. I recieved the following error.

System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime. at BizModules.UltraPhotoGallery.ucAdvancedSettings.cmdUpdate_Click (Object sender, EventArgs e)

This problem occurs in some hosting service provider(for example: GoDaddy), I don't know what special configuration is made by them but you will get this error if your DNN is 4.x.

The public build of this module is for .net 1.1 which should work in DNN 3.x and 4.x.

As a fix, you can require a special build of this module for .net 2.0 platform, which will fix this problem.

I'm not going to public release it because most client doesn't need it.

Please attach your invoice no in your email.

Thanks.

The problem in UMG module and DNN 4.3.4 core are identical - when you use DES algorithm to decrypt a string on x64 server, you must ensure the original string is not empty, or IIS will crash!

Peter helped me to test this problem(thank you, peter), and now I can announce I fixed these problems.

For UMG users who have run in this problem, please download the latest PA from Snowcovered.com - >My Downloads page, however, if you downloaded it after 1st Sep, you don't need to download it again.

For users running  DNN 4.3.4 on x64 server, please download my modified DNN core dll from:

http://www.bizmodules.net/Portals/0/DNNPatch/DNN_434_Core.zip

Please unpack this file and copy to /bin folder of your DotNetNuke, then your website will not crash if you enter wrong password.

Please note this path is for DNN 4.3.4 only, please don't apply it if you use other version. either higher or lower.

Thanks!
