Flash Media Live Encoder creates f4v files when you encode in H.264. Can we get the player to play f4v files?

I didn't try it, can you email me a f4v file?

however, I guess UVG need to reencode it even it's supported.

I tried. I used an f4v video file by renaming a .mp4 file. It was indeed transcoded(should detect it and skip it) by UVG 3. The resulting video didn't come with sound, but the same file with .mp4 extension transcoded by UVG 3 had the sound.

UVG only skips encoding progress when the source video is mp3 or flv, other formats will be encoded, evey mp4, you know, UVG professional edition generate mp4 videos in h264 encoding, the reason is:

1, not all videos in mp4 extension can be played in UVG. only videos with h264 encoding are accepted. some videos are encoded in h264 but the video meta is placed in file end. it should be moved to file header.
2, even the source video is h264 encoding, it may be very big, UVG need to reencode it so ensure it can be played on internet.

so same to f4v, even it can be supported, UVG need to reencode it.

you don't need to rename it to .mp4, just alow "f4v" extension in Host Settings, then you can upload f4v videso in Add Video module.

If the video still have no sound, send me your f4v file.

thanks.

I emailed you a raw and flattened f4v file.

F4V/MP4 files recorded locally by FLME 3 are in a format unreadable by Flash Player and many other common MP4 players that support MPEG4 part-10. The files are in a fragmented format spec that many players do not implement and you will need to "flatten" them first before Flash Player, et al, can play them back. The files do not need to be flattened if they are going to be streamed by FMS, only if you attempt to play them via progressive/local or in programs such as QuickTime.

The F4V post-processor is available for download here:

ya, it seems only "flatten" f4v is supported by UVG.

ok.

I still haven't found a way to do even minor edits to f4v (like cut). so i am going back to flv with FME until someone comes out with and f4v editor.
