I've tried a few different ways in using token [CREATEDDATE] to customize the date display but it only seems there is one display available.

What I am trying to do is:

[CREATEDDATE:mm,dd,yy]

or any other configuration thereof.

Currently the date displays as: 6/8/2008 9:51:46. And displaying the time is not desirable in my case.

Anyone know how to accomplish different date views?

the format of created date is determined by your server settings, if you have access to your server then try to change your server datetime format.

I would say a good portion of us would not have access to server settings, unless using VPS or Dedicated. There have been other Module developers that have added this type of functionality into their modules. Examples are Active Forums and Ventrian Modules.

Active Forums: Control Panel>Main Options>Date & Time Settings (as an example)

Ventrian Modules uses tokens as I've shown above [CREATEDDATE:mm,dd,yy]

What about through xml and allow us to update the token

< Object >
< Token >[CREATEDDATE]
< Settings >
< Setting >
< Name>FormatString< /Name >
< Value>MMM dd yy

Thoughts?

Looking foward to this!

This will assist in keeping the same date format sitewide, and help in template design based on workable areas, etc.

Thanks for listening and I'm sure others will find it useful as well.....
