This is something new to my UVG installation. Now when I upload a video and go to view it the first time I get a windows login dialog. I have to login before I can watch it.
Permissions are set correctly (they work on all other modulues) as per DNN recommendations.
If I remote into my server and reset permissions on that portal's folder (properties | security | advanced | check "replace permssion entries on all child objects shown here that apply to all child objects") then I can view all of the videos that have been uploaded without the widows login dialog.
But, when I upload the next video - I can't view that one.
Here is a link to a working video on a brand new site:
http://www.bikeclicks.com/tabid/1939/VideoId/66/USGP-Cyclocross-Derby-City-Cup.aspx
Here is a link to a video that requires a login on the same site:
http://www.bikeclicks.com/tabid/1939/VideoId/68/2007-USGP-Of-Cyclocross-Portland.aspx
There are only these two videos on this site. What is strange is that it lets me upload the videos, but not view them.
Anyone have ideas? I don't get login requests for any other modulesm including UMG.

Another client got same trouble before, then he apply same permission set on your site directory to c:\windows\temp and got it fixed. I still don't know why but it seems it will fix your problem. Does any one know why uploaded file inherit permission set from the temp folder? thanks. |

Pengtsen R, Thanks, that worked. I don't really like setting these permission on temp so if there is another way I would be really open to it. |

I had the same problem last night... I was about to change the permissions on the Temp directory, but instead i looked at the permissions on the Website Folder and noticed the IIS_WPG and IUSR accounts were still rrunning on these directories as well as the Network Services.. I removed the IUSR and IIS_WPG and then everything was fine.
I didn't touch the temp folder. |

| Jon, you mean, IIS_WPG and IUSR_MachinName had permission on your site directory, but you got this problem, then you remove these account so they don't have permission now, but this problem is gone, right? |

Yes.... Although i am having issues still.
1. I first removed those accounts from the permissons/security, then I had no issues except for the following.
2. Once I started dealing with files between 20 and 50MB I wasn't able to sync videos FTP'd or uploaded via Web. The files would upload, but ffmpeg would timeout and eventually crashes creating error reports for MS.
Faulting application ffmpeg.0.4.9.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ffmpeg.0.4.9.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00066767.
3. So then I used the UVG Converter 2 to create the FLVs and it will upload the videos, but times out during sync creating the ffmpeg error.
4. Now I go and upload the flv via website with no issues and the Windows login pops up when you view the video.
So I think I'm lost because the accounts were removed that I previously thought were causing the issue...
So I reset the permissions for Network Services on the root folder and then the login pop up is gone...
It seems that during sync there is something affecting the permissions...
I'm about to upload another video to see if it trips again... will let you know.
Sorry for not replying sooner.. I didn't subscribe to this topic |

Ok so I uploaded another video and the pop up is back... Only for that video. I looked at the permissions for the uploaded file (flv using converter tool, then web uploaded) and the file has somehow not inherited the proper permissions from the root folder Network Services acct. It has instead set a Special Permissions setup on the Network Services acct for that file. I then went back to the root folder security settings and set "Replace permission entries on all child objects..." and of course the file plays with no issue. So we may be looking at 2 different issues, but the FFMpeg is crashing every time a large video is uploaded or trying to sync the videos and perhaps that's part of why the permissions aren't being set properly on the uploaded files. |

2, 3, please first delete all non-flv, swf, and jpg files in /portals/0/ultravideogallery/yourusername folder, then go ahead to use UVG Converter 2 to add your videos, I think it should work in this case. Then if ffmepg still crashs, please send me your video and let me trace it. 4, basically, I think the permission issue should gone if network_servier have read/write permission on /portals/0/ultravideogallery folder, and IUSR have read permission on this folder and c:\windows\temp folder, can you try to assign this permission? This is a unknown issue that sometimes uploaded files inherit permission from c:\windows\temp folder, I still don't know why. |
