Hi, The docs indicate that I should check and see if firstrun.flv in the DesktopModules\UltraVideoGallery directory. Even browsing my server (w/o a web browser) reveals that this file was never installed. I do have firstrun.wmv. Where do I get firstrun.flv I also have full access to my server. Do you have instructions available that cover the IIS confis necessary to allow the MIME types, run external processes safely, etc? Thanks, Craig |

I've added the MIME type. I'm still looking for directions to configure the external processes. |

Launing external process is enalbed in default. FirstRun.flv is generated by UVG_FirstRun module, did you browse this module? thanks. |

Your questions: Yes, I added the firstrun module and browsed the tab that it is on. I see the player, but not the video. Ajax is enabled and the flv MIME type is enabled. The flv file isn't created. If I try to manually upload a wmv file, I get an error that it could not be converted to an mpeg. Second problem: I tried using the UPG Converter on my desktop to convert a file located on my server via the UNC name. It caused an exception. It looks like the import folder of c:\program files\UPG Converter\import is getting pre-pended to the UNC name. Here is the exception: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file "C:\Program Files\BizModules.net\UVG Converter\\alexandria\SharedDocs\My Videos\The Deflowering.wmv". The problem with UPG Converter is that it doesn't allow spaces in the input video filename. Spaces in the path are ok, but the file itself can't have spaces. |

I will download again. I don't want to have to depend on UVG Converter though. Do you have any suggestions for fixing my original problem (flv file not getting generated). Right now the following don't work in my install: Can't convert uploads to flv. Can't grab thumbnail pictures. Can't rate a video Can't comment on a video. Thanks for the help. |

The last 2 problems must be the Ajax.net issue, please enable it in Configurations module. The first 2 problems are same problem, I guess your web server don't support launching external process, please post the url of your UVG_FirstRun module, I'll check it. If your webserver can't support external process, then you must use UVG Converter to convert/upload videos. it is working fine now. Thanks. |

Please reread my original post in this thread. The server is mine, so I am asking how to go about enabling external process execution. According to the configuration console ajax is enabled. I'll make a page public with the firstrun module and send you a url. Craig |

About the "bizmodules is undefined" problem, another possible reason is this: http://www.bizmodules.net/Support/tabid/55/forumid/13/postid/2533/view/topic/Default.aspx About the external issue, I'll further check it after getting your FirstRun module url. Thanks. |

I can now rate videos and add comments. Ajax.net was shown in the configuration page as being enabled, but this was mis-leading because it really wasn't enabled. I had to grant the NETWORK_SERVICE account read/write/modify permission on web.config in order for the Video Configurations module to be able to change the web.config file. Once it could edit the file, I was able to enabled ajax.net and which, as you noted, fixed the ratings/comment problems. Craig |

Thanks to your helpful e-mail UVG Converter is no longer clipping my videos either. I'm down to 2 problems which both appear to be external process related. Can't convert uploads to flv. Can't grab thumbnail pictures. Craig |

I corrected the permissions and things are fine now. In order to help others who may have this problem... The installation instructions say unzip the files and copy them to the Binaries directory. This procedure will only work if the files are unzipped inside of the wwwroot directory/sub-directory structure so that XP will assign necessary roles/permissions as the files are extracted from the archive. I unzipped the files to my desktop and then copied them which is why it didn't work. Craig |
