I was so looking forward to the module. Went out and purchased it and then read the users guide. Neither of the major DNN hosts, that we use, are supporting flv at the moment. I ran the test run and verified. We are currently uploading all our videos to Amazon S3 for storage. http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261 Can I still configure the videos manually, by pointing to a external file, to playback from the Amazon servers? Amazon S3 is really cheap storage compared to other hosting services. I have not added any other modules except for the run test until I hear your response. Best regards, Buck |

Some hosting service provider support FLV, and somes don't support, that is why we offer a trial version of UVG module, we suggest our customers to try it before they buy. you can see our suggestion here: http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=7010 I'm not familiar with Amazon S3, but I just recorded your suggestion in my suggested enhancement list and will review it in next release. Thanks. |

I've been calling around all day and have had no success finding a provider that supports exe calls from .NET run time. Some of them support FLV, but so far non support exe calls. Do you have a list of providers that may support this module? My host actually shut my site down for a while when I loaded this up. They somehow had the server configured to allow executables but turned it off once they found it was being used. I am switching hosts anyhow but can't seem to find any that will support this and especially for a reasonable rate. Any ideas on hosting? |

Pengtsen, I am having the same issue. I will have to leave my host because they won't even host flv files. The way the video gallery is setup ,(youTube style), we could easily approach 300 gig a month in bandwidth. This would really limit the sales of the module for you if we are forced to host the flv files on our hosting provider's shared box. I mentioned Amazon S3 in the earlier post. http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261 Here is their pricing. Pricing * Pay only for what you use. There is no minimum fee, and no start-up cost. * $0.15 per GB-Month of storage used. * $0.20 per GB of data transferred. FireFox even has a addon that acts as a FTP server directly to Amazon S3. If we could set a url or set a location to Amazon S3's server in your module configuration, we avoid having to purchase a dedicated server from a host and avoid getting our sites shut down for hogging all the bandwidth. If you could also reply to me in email, the answer to the question above, I would appreciate it. TIA Buck |

Thanks, I now know from testing, that a semi-dedicated account at WebHost4Life will not keep up with a flv file that is over a minute long. The served files at Amazon S3 never stutter. Your attention to this enhancement is very much appreciated. |

This feature will be available soon. I added 2 radio buttons in AddVideo module, you can choose to add video from local disk or internet address. Thanks. |

Buck Andreson, I'm in the same boat. But your last post seems to indicate you got the module working on webhost4life servers. Did you have to do anything special? I load the FirstRun module and it never creates the FirstRun.FLV file. |

Click Site Admin Under IIS Manager click Set MIME Type Select the URL you want to manage and click Go Under the listed MIME types should be listed video/x-flv with the extension .flv if it is not there, add it where it says Add New IIS MIME Types. MIME TYPE video/x-flv Extension .flv |

Buck, thanks for your post. however, it seems david's problem is the FirstRun.flv can be created, not FirstRun.flv can be served by web server. Thanks. |

I'm interested in using Amazon as a hosting provider too. It would be great if we could configure the module to upload the photos too amazon as well. That way when our users upload a video it goes right to S3 and we don't have to do any manual uploading/reconfiguring of the video library. I'm a bit unclear on "external URL". When I do this, does it copy the file from the external URL to my local server, perform a conversion, and store it locally? Or does it just re-direct the web browser client to pull the content from the external url. The latter is what people are after, so I just want to confirm that that is what is happening. Thanks Craig |

| I should clarify. I'm interested in using Amazon as a storage hosting provider, not a web hosting provider. I'll continue to run my website on a separate server. |

Only the url is saved when you add a new external video. UVG will not save a local copy. Thanks. |

Sorry but I am unclear, did the feature get added to the product? I was looking to use the mod and wanted to make sure hosting at something like s3 was available before I purchased. Thanks |
