Hi, Just purchased and setup UVG on our site, and we're overall thrilled with its operation, including Active Social integration! However, 2 things: 1. Feed validation Although the feed generated is adequate for (for example) the Zune media player, it will not validate on feedvalidator.org. This can affect its ability to be imported anywhere and has already been raised by site members. As an example, see: http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autechheads.com%2FDesktopModules%2FUltraVideoGallery%2Ffeed.aspx%3Ftype%3DRecentVideos%26categoryid%3D1 I'd like to see more configurability for the feed overall, and (for example) iTunes support. 2. iPod/iPad support This is almost a must have now for video players, so would be keen to see it introduced ASAP. I'm aware this has been promised, but would you have a timeframe? Cheers, Matt |

We've fired our feed through Feedburner to fix up some of the probs with it, but it's still not 100%. Would be great to have more control over it. Also, unless I'm missing something, is it possible for us to have the author emailed when a comment is made? And to disable anonymous users from commenting while still showing comments? I'm having an issue with the captcha on our site at the moment so have actually disabled comments showing to anonymous. |

UVG do notify video managers when there is a comment. you can configure UVG so only registered users can post comments. the next version of UVG should work on apple divices, but it will take some time, I'm pretty busy in recent months. |

Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen an email for comments made, is there somewhere this should be configured? Also, where is the configuration for the registered users comments? Thanks for a great module :-) |

| I haven't had any luck finding a configuration to limit user registrations, and also haven't seen emails for comments? |

about the email, is your DNN properly configured to send emails? you can try the core feedback module to see if it works fine. about the user limitation, I'm sorry I was wrong, there isn't such an option :( |

Yes, we get emails without issue from other modules, and DNN is set to Verified so of course needs email to be working :-) Re user limitation; no problem, I was just thinking I was blind! :-) Is it possible to add this as a feature request along with the ipad/ipod support? :-) |

This will be reviewed. thank you for your suggestion. does /desktopmodules/ultravideogallery/Texts/CommentNotification.txt exists on your server? did you set a DNN role which contains some users as "Video Managers" in UVG_Configurations module? |

I have modified VideoComments.ascx to disable the ability to post/reply to comments if the user is not logged in, for now. Yes, the notification file exists. Yes, the DNN role is assigned for Video Managers. |

Sorry - missed this. Sure, I can create a host login for you. What's your email address? I've undone my customisation for not-logged-in users as it seemed to cause high CPU utilisation at random. |

| Still haven't heard back from you. I also note that the 2nd comment on a video tends to cause 50% utilisation, so obviously something's not working right. All other parts of the site are working fine. |

I'm having a related issue in getting my feed validated for iTunes. My feed is here... http://www.practicalblackbelt.com/DesktopModules/UltraVideoGallery/feed.aspx?type=RecentVideos&categoryid=21 The problem is with the enclosure tag. It is using back slashes instead of forward slashes. So a link to my enclosure looks like this (notice the slashes before and after "pdavis"... http://www.practicalblackbelt.com/Portals/1/UltraVideoGallery\pdavis\b25731e1-9924-49f5-b98b-cf03151b9962.mp3 Here it is run through the validater... http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.practicalblackbelt.com%2fDesktopModules%2fUltraVideoGallery%2ffeed.aspx%3ftype%3dRecentVideos%26categoryid%3d21#l1 |

For those interested, I have verified that the back slashes are being stored in the database. The problem is in the UVG_Video table with the VideoPath, Thumbnail, and H264VideoPath columns. For a temporary quick fix I created a Trigger that replaces the back slashes with forward slashes. My RSS feed is now showing up in iTunes! Here is the code for the Trigger... SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[ReplaceBackSlashWithForwardSlash] ON [UVG_Video] AFTER INSERT AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; update [UVG_Video] set videopath = Replace(videopath, '\', '/'), Thumbnail = Replace(Thumbnail, '\', '/'), H264VideoPath= Replace(H264VideoPath, '\', '/') WHERE ItemId = (SELECT ItemId FROM INSERTED) and (videopath like '%\%' or Thumbnail like '%\%' or H264VideoPath like '%\%'); END GO |
