Hello,

We're having problems adding videos taken from a Sony Handycam Model HDR-SR8.

The video is in mpg format and it uploads fine and then immediately displays 'Failed to encode this video'

The configuration wizard shows that the binaries and permissions are all OK.
Other mpg videos upload OK, but nothing from this Sony camera.

When I open the video in VLC and look at the codecs, it tells me Video Codec - mgpv, Audio Codec - a52. This is not HD; resolution is 720x480, Frame rate is 29.97. Audio channels are 3F2R/LFE. Audio sample rate is 48000 Hz, Bitrate 448 kb/s.

The Sony cameras are pretty standard fare so we're a bit confused as to why this isn't working.

Please help if you can.

Best Regards,
Alex

it seems the AUDIO part of the video is not supported, how many channels does your audio have?

Yes it works on Youtube.
I believe it is 5.1/multi-channel sound.

Yes...confirmed:

3f2r lfe = 3 front, 2 rear, one low frequency.
So 5.1 surround sound.
