I'm trying to configure the Demo product to run on my Windows XP machine. I get the following error:

Permission check failed, you are not able to upload any non-flv videos now.
Generally this means ASPNET account(or Network_Service in windows server 2003) don't have Execute permission on /DekstopModules/UltraVideoGallery/Binaries folder.
For further information please refer to "Installation guide" chapter in the User Guide.

I visited the "Installation guide" section and there isn't anything listed that tells you how to configure the system - pretty much not helpfull. Anyways here is what I have done thus far:
- right clicked on the Binaries folder > selected security > made sure that the PCNAME\ASPNET account was listed and gave it "Full Control" > Next I made sure that the "Network Service" also had Full Control.
Ran the permission wizard again and still I get the following error:

I would like to use this module on my site but first I would like to see it run on my machine - Help please!!!

Herb, Did you have execute permissions set properly?
ANSWER: If I didn't I wouldn't know - there isn't anything anywhere explaining how to go about that other than what I posted up above...

Herb Benton, what's your trust level? is it set to full trust(unristricted)?
ANSWER: I have given the module complete total full control from the top of the hiearchy to the binary folder. I couldn't give the module any more control other than sending you the password and username to my machine and allowing you to log on.
My big question is why the module needs complete Full Control (Unrestricted) - that actually seems a bit scary...
Anyways, I have given the ASP.NET account full control and I still get the error.
I have the demo using DNN 4.5 on a Windows XP box with SP2 running under IIS.
IF you have detailed step-by-step instructions on how to set-up the permissions on a Windows XP machine then please post them and I will follow the instructions.

to pass the permission check, you need to do 2 configuraitons:
1, ensure your site run in full trust, in UVG configuration wizard you can see the report of your trust level, generally it should be "Unrestricted" or "Medium", Unrestricted means full trust, and Medium means medium trust.
2, ensure Network Service account have Execute permission on the binaries folder, full control is also ok.
we have done a lot of test about the required permissions and it seems UVG is always able to pass the permission check if above conditions are made.

OK, your saying ensure that the site is run in full trust - I got that part. However, your not answering the question....
HOW DO YOU ENSURE THAT THE SITE IS RUNNING IN FULL TRUST?
Step by step instructions please, please! |

no, we don't ensure all websites which deploy UVG run in full trust, we know only a part of websites run in full and others run in medium, if a website run in medium trust or don't have Execute permission on the binaries folder, UVG is not able to do online video conversion, however, we offered an alternate component, UVG converter, which allows you to convert videos on your local computer and upload to UVG. for further information please take a look at "DNN Hosting" link at the top of this page.

You need to learn how to answer questions...
I have figured it out. And frankly I'm surprised that you couldn't just give the detailed step-by-step directions on "How To." I figured that there was a misunderstanding and that the wrong information was being given - I'm even further surprised because your the one that created the application...
That being said, I have the BizModules.com UVG running on an instance of DNN on a Windows XP box running under IIS for testing purposes. I would never recommend that someone go blindly and install this module OR any module in a production environment when the module is making changes to your web.config file - not a good idea!
As for the UVG Module - after playing with it for the past couple of hours I am convinced, without a doudt, that it is going to work for my community site. I will be implementing it sometime over the next week.
I'm glad this is working to my expectations and that I don't have to engineer my own...
Once again, learn to read the question and answer them directly - I almost didn't purchase your module because you didn't answer my question(s).
