Hi Pengsten.. I find myself urgently needing to group categories. Our marine site could literally develop hundreds of categories to sift through.. anyway is it possible to have master categories containing subcategories?

Pengtsen - Our company has both UMG and UVG and they are very well done. Great products! But we are going to provide a lot of training videos for our employees and without sub categories to organize them they are going to be hard to manage. Series will not work in most circumstances because of the number of videos involved.

I am thinking about using the DNN menu to handle my grouping and then make multiple pages for the sub categories but I am not crazy about the idea. Do have any idea if and when sub categories will be made available? Thanks

Daniel, I'm sorry the sub category feature is not in our plan.

what about Tags? can you use Tags to organize your videos?

Tags are pretty cool but we need something with more structure where users can quickly drill down into sub-categories. We will continue to use UVG for some things but I will have to get an alternate video manager that allows sub-categories and displays them in something like a tree view. Thanks for responding.

Pengtsen,

With all due respect, I wouldn't be so quick to say no or to put off too long the additional feature request of sub-categories. I'm a long time user of UVG and DNN in general and I can tell you that from a perspective of managing large amounts of content, no matter what form it's in, the additon of sub categories to main categories is becoming a need that has to be included in future releases. In fact, many current module developers are already including the feature as their client base has demanded it for so long now. Listen to the folks out there managing sites and content and please include this feature as soon as possible int he next release. It will add additonal value to an already great product. Thanks for the consideration.

Hi

I too would like to have sub categories for UVG. I am a long time UVG user and my website is growing day by day with content. Sub Categories is definitely needed.

thanks

I want to voice my desire for sub categories as well, they would be very useful and it is not that complex of a data structure to allow for a parent category and sort order (dnn tabs do it!). Also, 3.0 no longer allows a video to be in multiple categories. I really think this should be returned to version 4.0 of the product. I will be going back to using version 2.0 for the moment.
