I checked out the PowerDNN website and compared it with my existing hosting company. It seems like my existing hosting company has more value for the money! I mean a lot more. PowerDNN only offers 1GB of space while the hosting company I'm with now gives you 300GBs for 5.00 less. I know I do not need all the HD space. But, 1GB is a bit minimal.

Does anyone know of any other hosting options that allows us to make the changes needed to allow different files types to be uploaded to UVG?

you can try websecurestores, bizmodules.net was hosted there, now in powerdnn. it seems some servers from them support external process so UVG can convert videos online.

thanks.

I am working with a web host who seems to be willing to set the proper permissions. Presently we have the permissions set to full control on all the folders inside the ultravideogalley folder and the ultra video gallery folder is set to modify. The tech informed me the permissions are set to 755(modify). Does he need to change the settings to 777? because, at this moment the permissions check still fails.

what's your trust level? it should be full trust.

then network service account shoule have "Read and execute" permission on your binaries folder.

This is still not working.

Permission check failed, you are not able to upload any non-flv videos now.
Generally this means ASPNET account(or Network_Service in windows server 2003) don't have Execute permission on /DekstopModules/UltraVideoGallery/Binaries folder.

For further information please refer to "Installation guide" chapter in the User Guide.

The hosting company said this.

We have enabled the execute permissions on your DNN folder. Please note that these permissions are usually denied for security issues for your site, and that you accept full responsibility as to what may happed to your site now that the permissions are enabled.

What else do I need to do? this is getting frustrating.

ok, this is what they said.

Hello,

The ASP session? If you are using the correct impersonation values the trust level should be full.

Please advise after verifying the web.config files, please also be advised that they work in a heirarchy structure so you have to apply it to the web.config in the sub directory as well if it contains one.

Best Regards,

This is the latest message I received from the hosting company. I'm at a loss what to do next.

Below is a response from Easy CGI's support team to your support request.
For a backlog of all events in this ticket, please log into our Hosting
Control Panel and open your ticket in the Help and Support section. You

            James,

The everything is set correctly for full trust level and that you still have execute permissions on your DNN folder.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

It sounds like they covered all the bases. What should I do next? I really need this to work.

UVG said "Permission check failed", and UVG doesn't lie on this, something must be wrong.

Your hosting company said Network Service account do have execution permission on your DNN folder, can you ask them to check if the permission is set on /Desktopmodules/UltraVideoGallery/Binaries folder?

You know, actually only this folder need execute permission.

This is the situation. At first the trust level was set at "unrestricted". Now it seems to have set itself for "medium". I spoke with the hosting company and they insist the trust is set at "full". But UGV is stating it's at "medium".

I mentioned this to them and this is what the said. I'm not sure what they are talking about.

Hello,

The trust level is set to full as long as the impersonation values are set in the web.config, please also note that the web.config works in a heirarchy structure and you have to verify that if theres web.config's in the child directories of the applications, they need to include the impersonation values.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Best Regards,

it seems your hosting company said your web.config should be updated to use full trust, can you ask them to update it?

I believe your correct. If someone could tell me how to do it. I would do it. But I have no idea what settings I need to do.

This is their last message

James,

We have verified again, that .net has full Internal trust levels to the DNN folder, when the Impersonation Values are set correctly.

I sent them what I thought was the impersonation settings and asked them to tell me what needs to be changed. I'm hoping they will just change them. But, if they can show me what to change in DNN. I would simply do it myself.

Have you heard of these settings before and what do they mean?

this is another message

James,

The user name and password appear to be correct, as listed in the web.config file in your root folder.

Please check with the creator of the module, to see if it is attempting to access any files of folders outside of the DNN folder, as that is the only way we can see that you may not be getting Full trust levels.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
