I apologize if this appears somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. I've just finished uploading a 101MB video (wheew!) and now the browser is sitting open, encoding...and encoding...and encoding... This is to be expected, because the file is so large, but since the encoding is done on the server side, does my browser have to be open? Could I simply upload a file and then close the browser? or would this keep the file from encoding properly? I could test this with a shorter video I'm sure, but I thought that I would throw it out there and see what you guys say. Thanks!

I will and then I'll let you know.

There was something else though. After I uploaded the file, it was encoding. I figured that it would need the time to upload, so I left it overnight. When I came back this morning it was still making lovely little dots across my screen. I actually had to scroll!!!

So, I'm trying to figure out why it won't successfully encode the file, at least not on the screen.

I checked my server and found the flv file. I'm downloading it now to see if it encoded properly.

Okay. So I was able to download and play the really big video. The flv file appears to have encoded correctly. The audio and video are in sync and everything. UVG hasn't uploaded it to S3 yet though.

When I initially setup the module, I told it to upload files when there were 2 in the queue. I had attempted to change this to 1 (we only upload files once or twice a week, so this wouldn't be a problem I suppose) but the file refused to upload.

I tried out my theory, that I wouldn't have to wait for a file to encode. I uploaded a smaller file, 21Mb, and waited until it said the Upload was Successful. I then closed the window and waited. After about 10 minutes I came back and looked at the DNN Schedule log. It said that it had successfully transmitted 1 video to S3.

When I checked my video library, the file that showed up was the smaller one. So, apparently you don't have to have the window open for the file to encode.

So, what do you suppose is wrong with the large file? I'm going to upload the flv file directly to Amazon S3 and then do an Internet link, just to get it working, but it would be nice to know what is wrong.

Just so you know, when I was having issues with my uploads, I edited my web.config file to change the neatUpload settings as follows:

Well, it didn't like my code apparently.

I changed these parameters: maxNormalRequestLength="1000000" maxRequestLength="153600"

I am using UVG 2.3.

When I view my modules under the "Module Definitions" tabid, I see that the only one listed with 2.3 is the AddVideo Module.

The rest are showing up as 2.0. Do you suppose that is the problem? Or is this normal?

The original file is 101Mb. The FLV file is 109Mb.

it's not a problem, I only change the version number for UVG_AddVideo.

why the flv is larger then the original video? what's your video size and bitrate?

I'm not sure why the flv would be larger. My original video is a MOV file.

The following is from the Movie Inspector of my Quicktime program:
Format: AAC, Stereo (L R), 32.000 kHz
H.264 Decoder, 320 x 240, Millions
FPS: 14.98
Data Size: 95.19 MB
Data Rate: 256.29 kbits/s
Duration: 0:00:47:59.11

I think that the original video was in HD, but our video guy down sampled it for the web.

He does his exporting the same way each time. I've successfully uploaded files with this encoding in the past, they were just much smaller (less than 10 MB).

While attempting to upload this week's video (which is 98 Mb this time) I received this error.

It had been uploading fine up until that point.

The latest problem should be related to timeout settings, what's your current executionTimeout settings? try to increase it.

thanks.
