I installed the new patch (I think this changes AddVideo to 2.1 ?  And I am grabbing the page URL for YouTube videos but nothing plays.  I did set the permissions as well to allow additios of Internet Videos. To be honest though, I have never got this option to work in the pas as well.. Is there a critcal setting for the site that I need to check?

Pengtsen looks like youtube are at their lark again,

I would like to offer to help you track down what this issue is as its important to me as i run in a shared hosting environment and most of my videos are from YouTube.

You say its to do with the YouTube API
http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/overview.html

I found this on the API site for the other memeber Pengtsen you probably have already seen this,

Important Info That Could Affect You!

Hi everyone,

Starting today, we'll be pushing out some changes to the serving infrastructure in a limited rollout. Developers using our APIs and embedded players should not notice any issues -- but if you're using an unsupported method to get at YouTube content, you may start to see some intermittent problems with playback. If you fall into the latter category, I strongly encourage you to switch over to a supported way of accessing YouTube

------------

Ok Pengtsen so we are still experiencing the intermittent playback which means yous must be using an unsupported method to get at the YouTube content.

You need a full address inorder UVG to be played.. ( with http://www. )
After i installed 2.1, I tried to grab the utube video And couldnt get the video to play...

And then I realize i only put " http://youtube.com?xxxxxxxxxxxxx"
After that i changed to "http://www.youtube.com?xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" And fiola... it works..

Off topics :
I have problem using a fullscreen mode in Windows Vista... It only show a white screen and the audio..
any solution?

It seems something has changed.

I just added an  youtube video and then when I go to edit it the url shows like this (exactly as I copied it to begin with)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKUo7M61j1k

for all youtube videos that I uploaded before UVG somehow converted the url to something like this
http://ash-v392.ash.youtube.com/get_video.flv?video_id=A2_Hmt-MKLA

the videos sitll plays so not sure this affects anything.

it seems when you click play from list view it takes a bit longer for the video to start playing....just seat of the pants impression

Ivan you're the man.. the "dubdubdub" addition to the URL made things work like a charm...

Jeremias, UVG hardcoded the domain of youtube to "www.youtube.com", did you get the "youtube.com" domain from any public areas? or just written by your self?

Ivan, both format is supported by UVG. UVG retrive the real url when play it, but it should be very fast.

I'm not sure, there isn't any where in UVG which refer to "addrange", now please check your Event Viewer to find out the detailed error message.

thanks.

Depending on how big the youtube video is there is a delay of when it starts playing.

UVG doesn't show any "Loading..." message or anything. It is a bit confusing for the user as they may be sitting infront of a blankl UVG for 5-8 seconds thinking that something has gone wrong.

It will be nice if we have "Loading..." message until the video starts playing. Like the one you have when you load the video player page - it just disappears very quick.

Thanks.

C. You agree not to access User Submissions (defined below) or YouTube Content through any technology or means other than the video playback pages of the Website itself, the YouTube Embeddable Player, or other explicitly authorized means YouTube may designate.

I think the feature that allows a UVG user to play a YouTube video is basically against the terms of use on YouTube.

To make it comply to the terms, the embeddable YouTube player needs to used, not the UVG player. This makes sense as YouTube wants to maintain branding.

Is it possible, for a check-box to be created that allows the ADMIN to select which player is used ? the YouTube embeddable player or the UVG player ?

http://www.youtube.com/t/terms

I love this module, but its not just a copyright issue. Even if I owned the corpyright of the videos I am displaying through the player, it would still be against the YouTube terms
if I used the UVG player instead of the YouTube player.

It would be a major feature for the UVG module to allow compliant aggregation of YouTube videos
