Here is a very useful tool for calculating the optimal bitrate for your conversions.

It was designed by Robert Reinhardt lead author of the Flash Bible and author of new Adobe Press: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional Video Studio Techniques. (If you appreciate the calculator and are going to buy the book, I'd encourage ordering it through his site to support his contributions to the Flash video community.)

There is also this chart here. Things change based on the codec, can you tell us what codec UVG uses?

These tools look potentaly great but i've tried using them and FFmpeg bombs with the settings.

Can anyone recomend a calculator tool for FFMpeg as i have had no luck at all with experiments.

Even a formula would do. At the moment i can only get the default conversion settings to work.

Thanks

FFmpeg crashes. I have been testing with the offline tool. Basicaly anything other than the default settings causes this.

Can you recomend a bit rate for 500px?

Thanks

you mean FFMpeg crashs when you don't use default settings? if so, please send your video to service@bizmodules.net and tell me your settings.

if your server have very good network connection, or you accept that some visitors wait a few seconds to see your video, you can use 500kbps+ bit rate.

thanks.
