Let's say the photos(hundreds of thousands) are stored on Amazon S3 server. All of the photos are in one folder.  Is there a way to display only a select few photos based on a search criteria?

The reason I ask this is because it seems like every example or situation uses galleries and albums, etc.  My website will need to only display a few photos based on a very specific search.

thanks,

dan

there is a search module in UMG, doesn't it work for you?

thanks for the reply! I have not purchased the module yet because if it doesn't work for this one site, then I don't need it. Is it easy to add server code and or extra SQL to search for specific files? These pictures will be on one folder on a server. There will be no reference to the pictures in the database. They just go onto the server by FTP. So I need to retrieve them by filename straight from the directory. Sorry if I'm not making sense. Thanks Dan

you mean your photos are stored on a specific folder which is not managed by UMG? it so how can you search them in UMG?

however, if your photos are managed by UMG, and UMG transfered them to amazon s3, you still can search them because they exist in UMG data tables.

can the umg database handle 1 million pictures? They will most likely be stored at Amazon. The gallery will only need to display about 10 at a time by search criteria. Dan

1 million should be supported, but you must index your database otherwise to search it will take quite a long time.
