I bought UMG recently (29-Sep) from snowcovered.com and got version 5.31. I couldn't get the rss feed to work, but continued with my normal albums. So, before trying the rss feed again, I downloaded and installed the latest version today. The module version in dnn is marked (05.04.00). I've just tried a new UMG classic gallery, using the wizard. On step 6, I enter the rss feed as above, and hit "next", I get "Invalid rss feed". The only other odd behaviour I've noticed is that when I use the help file I'm prompted to install the language pack "Simplified Chinese". I think this also came up when accessing some of the settings in UMG. Unfortunately, I can't remember which settings. Is there some log files I can look at? Thanks David |

Another unusual item was that the product had to be manually activated. I think at the time you thought there may be a problem accessing your server for an automatic activation.
Can these problems be linked to some permission problem?
The message I got at the time was ...
Activation Code: UMG5@7c3c23c0-7f5e-4281-a1fd-3d631c2cba11@E:\hshome\lopmail\lopmail-srv2.com\@84.51.235.192@d4793697.u124.hosting365.ie When I try to activate it, I get the message:- System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest..ctor(Uri uri, ServicePoint servicePoint) at System.Net.HttpRequestCreator.Create(Uri Uri) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri, Boolean useUriBase) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.GetWebRequest(Uri uri) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at net.bizmodules.www.LVP.CheckSerialNoWithSku(String sku, String strSerialNo, String strAlias, String strUMGGuid, String strDNNCharacter, String& strExtraMessage) at BizModules.UltraPhotoGallery.ucActivate.cmdUpdate_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) The action that failed was: Demand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Net.WebPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer

I tried exactly once again what you said, I created a new gallery and in the wizard I provide your rss feed, it works ok too. Now I suspect your UMG is not 5.4, please check it in Module Definitions, what's the version number of "Ultra Media Gallery" main module? thank you. |

Hello, It definitely version 05.04.00. See full listing of modules below. Also, I installed the language pack "Simplified Chinese", as prompted when I opened UMG5.chm (see above). However, I still get problems with the "rss feed is invalid". I recognise that it's not easy to identify problems when code runs successfully in one environment, but not in another. But any help would be very much appreciated. Hello,
As you will have seen on the page "Rotator", I can read rss feeds successfully using the "Feed Explorer". Does this use a different technical approach from UMG?
Also, I can happily use links to .FLV files on other web sites and UMG works fine.
Can you let me know what part of the code you changed to get the error message displayed? Was this UMG code, or DNN?
Thanks
David

I remember the error is fired from this line, in UMG AlbumController.vb: Dim xmlDoc As New XmlDocument xmlDoc.Load(strRssFeed) 'here is the error you can see UMG just create a xml object and try to load your rss feed. thanks. |

Hello again, I'm not sure whether this should be a new item, or whether this error is related to the code changes you made recently.
When I click on the "appearance" link for my UMG on my "Gallery" page, I get the error below, and can't continue with editing the UMG appearance. Everything else seems ok on the site
Any ideas?
Also, I want to return the code to it's original version, and remove any changes you made. Obviously, I don't want to lose any work I've done setting up this gallery. What do I need to do?
Thanks
David

Hello,
Presentation pack is 3.1. I upgraded at the same as UMG 5.4 See listing of module versions in previous posting above.
I did originally create the gallery in the previous version. I'm pretty sure that I have edited the appearance of this gallery since I installed presentation pack 3.1, although I can't be certain.

I got this error before, I don't know what exactly it is but it seems installing both the latest version of UMG and GPP should fix this problem. so could you please try to install both of them? if you still have trouble with it I'll be glad to install them for you if you can give me a host account. thank you. |
