Adding Personal Gallery/Homepage service to your DNN portal
Personal Gallery (PG) is a special module which differs from other generic modules you already know. It is not used to provide "Content", but used to provide a "Service". It is not designed to work independently, but you will find it brings new features to your DNN portal when you use it along with other modules.
One of the major usages of PG is to add a Personal Gallery Service (or Personal Homepage Service) to your DNN portal. As an administrator, you can specify which roles are allowed to create their personal tabs / pages on your website, and the creator can then manage his tab / page and share it with someone else. Many settings and options in this module ensure you can use it in various business circumstances.
If you use this module to provide a personal gallery service, you must own a gallery module; our proposed module is Ultra Photo Gallery 2.5, however, the core gallery module and 3rd party gallery modules are also supported.
The typical process of using this module is:
- Install it and add to desired page.
- Configure it and make necessary settings.
- Further configure it to define the page template, e.g. place which modules on which panes.
- Your visitors can see a prompt message and click a button to apply for their personal tab.
- If the approval process is enabled, a notification email will be sent to the administrator's email box, you can approve or reject this application.
- If the approval process is disabled, or an administrator approved an application, this module will create a tab / page for the applicant; all predefined modules in the page template will be added as appropriate.
- A notification email will be sent to the applicant's email box.
- The applicant will get "Edit" privilege in all modules on his personal tab / page, and they can upload photos to the gallery module on the page. They can also edit other related content in other modules.
- The applicant can share his personal tab / page with other people.
